Drum Maintenance- Part 1- Bringing New Life to Old Drums

In this video I show you how I clean my older metal drums and also talk about putting on new heads, including calf skin heads, on one of them.
i also change out the tension rods on both drums and show you how to get stubborn tarnish off of rims and lugs.
For demo purposes I am using a Ludwig Black Beauty and a Pearl Steve Ferrone Signature snare drum. Both of these drums are finished in black nickel and are in need of a good cleaning as well as new heads so I am taking this opportunity to show you how I do this.
In a follow up video I will play both drums for you and compare the Black Beauty to a close relative, a 1961 Ludwig Supraphonic COB snare.
