Necropolis Railway
Termination at the terminus
cessation of all that was and ever will be
a finale
a final resting place
for the uprooted
inner-city commuters
who
to be honest
are only commuting in one direction
with as little conversation
as the modern Tube traverser
but a lot less jostling for elbow room

All Out!
the deathly destination is reached
into the pockmarked fields
epitaphs and bones may not match
but who will complain to the shovel men
this late at night
planting in neat rows the black roses
that will never bloom
sink them into to the soil
equality at last
by the bucket load

a head of steam is up
and the engine must return
to collect another platform full
of prone and passive passengers
mirror timetabled from the living
dusk to dawn
