LN Engineering Nickies M96 Engine Block Reconditioning - Finish Boring Nickies Sleeves

In this video, LN Engineering shows how our billet aluminum Nickies sleeves for Porsche M96 and M97 engines are made.

The final step after the outside diameter has been turned is to bore the sleeve out to the final pre-plate diameter which is approximately .0085" larger than the final bore size. The nickel silicon carbide NSC wear surface is electroplated onto the cylinder bore then diamond honed to provide a low friction and long wearing finish. Unlike cast or ductile sleeves that have poor thermal conductivity, Nikasil plating does not provide a barrier to heat transfer and helps to keep your engine running cool even with increased displacement and higher power output levels. Nikasil is also very resistant to scoring unlike softer cast or ductile iron bores or problematic Alusil and Lokasil blocks known to suffer from bore scoring.
