Cecropia Moths are the largest moths in the US. Native and common. They are found throughout the Eastern US, mostly northeastern. They're also a lot more common than most people think! Yet with their size and numbers, they seemingly fly under the radar of most people.
Insects are one of the most important components of the ecosystem. Everything on the Planet relies upon insects to survive, either to help make our food, or AS our food. Every species of insect is critically important to everyone and everything. Food chain, Pollination, soil and water health, clean air... everything! Nocturnal insects are no different. However, due to their habit of being active late at night, most people don't actually know how important ALL insects truly are.
