The Gadfly
The Gadfly (in Russian romantized: Ovod) is a 1955 Soviet historical drama based on the novel by Ethel Lilian Voynich and directed by Aleksander Faintsimmer. The film's score is composed by Dmitri Shostakovich. The music became world known and the composition “Romance” is one of the most famous compositions of the 20th century. Bel Air Music recorded the “Romance” in Moscow’s Radio Broadcasting Studio with The Russian Philharmonic Orchestra, Conductor Konstantin Krimets (in November 1999)
and the “Dance” with conductor Sergei Skripka in 2003.
Produced in 1955, expect the picture quality to be moderate, however our high-quality recording of the “Romance” and the Dance” is synchronized in replacing the old soundtrack.
