Based on the classic star-wheel-and-escapement mechanism, the design of the Rubber Band Carbine incorporates recent Japanese RBG innovations, including a defeatable upper tooth on the trigger escapement, and a second "oscillating dampener" escapement. These new features make it possible for the gun to be operated in a semi-automatic mode or a controlled full-auto mode! Switching between firing modes is as simple as turning the mechanism's fire selector to engage or disengage the upper tooth on the trigger escapement. The gun’s mechanism can hold up to twenty-four size #18/19 rubber bands or sixteen size #32/33 rubber bands.
