Sitar Lecture at Glendale College
As part of Dr. Paul Sherman's "World Music Lecture Series," at Glendale College (California), professional sitar player and instructor Will Marsh visits the GCC Music Department. Dr. Sherman starts the event with some history of North Indian music that dates back 3,000 years, while Western music is only 1,000 years old if we really stretch it. Dr. Sherman explains that we are truly "Musical infants" in comparison. Will Marsh speaks of and demonstrates the components of the sitar and supporting instruments, and provides some amazing live sitar playing to the students of Dr. Sherman's World Music class.
