The starter on this engine OM646 is located under the intake manifold , therefore you must take it out in order to remove the starter . It's also important to check the wiring , the battery and alternator before you decide that you need a new starter . A bad ground or coroded connection can cause a disruption in power for the starter , therefore the engine will not start .
