Narrow Gauge Cane Trains around Ingham - 2ft Gauge Wilmar Sugar Railway, North Queensland, Australia

The small North Queensland town of Ingham, an hour's drive north of Townsville and three hours south of Cairns, is in the heart of sugar cane farming country. An extensive network of narrow gauge railway lines feed two nearby mills, Victoria and Macknade, both operated by Wilmar Sugar Australia. During the crushing season (roughly June to December) the network is incredibly busy, with a variety of 0-6-0 and bo-bo diesel locos hauling incredibly long rakes of four wheeled sugar bins. The length and weigh of some of the trains requires a radio controlled banking loco pushing at the rear of the train! NOTE....I've since been informed that this is not a banking loco but is actually a remote controlled brake unit. I'd love to hear your thoughts about this video. Please leave comments below.
