How Dar es Salaam is Growing Rapidly Into a Megacity in Africa

In this video we'll present how dar es Salaam is growing rapidly into a megacity in Africa.
Africa today is the world’s least urbanized continent, with 43 percent of its population living in urban areas. But high birthrates and rising internal migration mean African cities are entering an era of unprecedented growth. The continent’s population is growing so quickly because of its increasingly large young inhabitant, the highest of any continent. According to the United Nations, over 75% of Africa’s population are younger than 35 years. Among the fastest-growing cities are three cities located in Tanzania, of which Dar es Salaam is expected to see highest population increase and become a mega city by 2035. With a population of more than six million, Dar es Salaam, is currently Africa’s 6th largest city. it is also the third-fastest-growing city in Africa, after Bamako and Lagos, and the ninth-fastest-growing in the world.
Dar es Salaam, with its current population of six million on the Indian Ocean, is expected to have 10 million within a decade and according to a predicted scenario—could have more than 70 million by 2100 making it the third largest city in the world, behind Lagos and Kinshasa.
