Dorotabō – The Vengeful Ghost of the Rice Fields – Japanese Mythology

Doro-ta-bo is a yokai from Japanese mythology related to abandoned rice fields. Represented as a muddy spirit with a human appearance, it symbolizes the sadness and resentment of farmers whose lands have been neglected. It emerges at night, covered in mud, expressing its anguish and seeking revenge against those who disrespect the land. Doro-ta-bo is a reminder of the importance of caring for nature and respecting the hard work of farmers.
