BEING A BRAHMIN IN INDIA: THE EXPERIENCE OF S L BHYRAPPA

This Indic talk gives a more in-depth insight into the personal life of a novelist S L Bhyrappa and its reverberations/influence on his writings. It allows getting a glimpse of Bhyrappa’s mind as a writer, his take on discrimination and injustice that he encountered at a tender age and how he rose above it.

In this video, Bhyrappa discloses why he chose to keep a distance from ideologies like Marxism and Capitalism, which functions to shrink the creativity and thinking of the writers. He believes that the writer should rise above the frivolities of life to express his people’s views. To do so, he says a writer must develop his views about the existing political and social scenarios. For he says ideologies like Marxism cannot solve problems of society.
