Shaquille O'Neal told LeBron James to stop comparing himself
to Michael Jordan. And when you actually look at the numbers
behind it, the conversation gets uncomfortable fast.

highest career average in NBA history — 6-0 in the Finals,
6 Finals MVPs, never let a series reach Game 7 in the Finals,
9 All-Defensive First Team selections, and a Defensive Player
of the Year award. 1,072 regular season games, 179 playoff
games. Six rings. Perfect record when everything was on the line.

LeBron: 40,000-plus career points, all-time leading scorer,
top five all-time in assists, career averages of around 7
rebounds and 7 assists — numbers no player at his level
has ever maintained this long. 1,400-plus regular season
games, 280-plus playoff games. 10 Finals appearances across
three different teams in three different eras. Four rings.

Shaq isn't saying LeBron isn't great. He's saying LeBron
is so great he doesn't need the comparison anymore. Because
if you remove Jordan from the equation entirely, LeBron's
resume stands completely alone — all-time leading scorer,
top five in assists, 20-plus All-Star appearances, multiple
MVPs, championships across different teams, still producing
deep into his 40s.

The real argument isn't about who's better. It's about
what greatness even means. Jordan is the peak. LeBron is
the marathon. Jordan is the perfect storm. LeBron is the
constant force. And depending on what you value, your answer
changes.

Shaq's point is simple. The comparison keeps hurting LeBron
more than it helps him. Every playoff exit, every missed
shot, every finals loss gets filtered through Jordan's
perfect record. And that's no way to judge a different
kind of greatness.
