Post-rock synth jam with Elektron Digitakt, MI Ambika, and Kellii Scott!

A live, semi-improvised synth jam, all on hardware, and matched with an inspired performance by one of my absolute favourite drummers.

Kellii Scott has played with a bunch of great bands, but most importantly to me, he is the drummer for the band Failure. Failure's Fantastic Planet was an enormous influence on me, and Kellii's drumming set the standard for what it meant to have great style and sound behind the kit. When Kellii put out a call to fans to record with him, I couldn't resist. And as a great bonus, he was even gracious about recording some video footage, too. It's been such an honour and highlight, working on this song.

On my end, this started with a very improvisational jam on the Digitakt. I added in the Mutable Instruments Ambika for some synth voices, and its multi-outputs inspired me to run different voices through different effects. Once Kellii was on board, I decided to record some guitars and bass to help the song build to a crescendo. Along the way, I love how the song found a sort of three-act structure, and I'm extremely pleased with where this one ended up.
