Wildfire Breaks Out in Central Greece as Aircraft and Helicopters Deployed

A wildfire erupted near Asprokampos in the regional unit of Phthiotis, triggering a major emergency response from Greek firefighting authorities.

Dozens of firefighters, specialized forest firefighting units, fire engines, aircraft and helicopters were deployed to prevent the blaze from spreading through agricultural and forested areas. Local authorities also mobilized water tankers as firefighting operations continued.

An investigative team from the Fire Service has been dispatched to examine the circumstances surrounding the outbreak while crews remain on high alert during Greece's wildfire season.
