Fashion Critic Reviews Men's Paris Fashion Week Fall 2021 (Louis Vuitton, Dior, Rick Owens & More)

I know that this video is soooooo late but it's still so worth discussing! Virgil Abloh's Fall 2021 Louis Vuitton collection was probably his strongest at the brand to date. While referencing past designers like Marc Jacobs, there was so much newness, so much reference to his own experiences and culture, and tons of looks that will drive Vuitton heads wild. Rick Owens this season faltered, which was unfortunate, but he did debut a collaboration collection with Converse, and gave his own take on the Ramones. While I wouldn't say it was a great collection, it was full of beautiful references that are deep and strong. Arturo Obegero is one of Paris' new talents, but the Spanish designer has been inching his way into the scene quite sleekly, like his clothing. His was the smallest collection we saw, but considering he hand made it using upcycled fabrics, I was proud. Botter, by Rushemy Botter & Lisi Herrebrugh, was a brilliant showing that look after look reimagined the traditional notions of the suit. The brand also touched on its roots in the Caribbean while designing whimsical clothing and accessories that nodded to it's history. The last collection we will be discussing is Dior Men, by Kim Jones, and well it was a dud. Working with artists, this season being Peter Doig, is getting pretty old. And that's really only because Kim refuses to update his work in a manner that excites or drives interest. He might sell product, but call him the Steve Jobs of fashion then. Don't refer to him as a designer.
