Discovering your passion | Oliver Yeh | TEDxMSJHS

This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Oliver Yeh talks about how his experiences have shaped him as a person and helped him find his passion. Yeh expresses that true passion is not hindered by the fear of what other people think.

Oliver Yeh grew up in Santa Clara and currently teaches in the Bay Area at Crystal Children's Choir. He is an avid sports fan, a cappella geek, and is passionate about youth empowerment. While at UC Berkeley, he majored in Economics but fell in love with the Global Poverty & Practice minor, which motivated him to volunteer abroad in Ghana and India. Inspired and humbled by the students and people he met abroad, he decided to pursue his passion in education. He hopes to encourage more students to pursue work they find truly meaningful and fulfilling even if it seems initially impractical.

Following graduation, he served a year at an urban, low-income charter school in Boston as a part of the Match Corps before returning to the California to teach music. In June 2014 he will return to school at STEP, Stanford's Teacher Education Program, to obtain his teaching credential and Master's degree in Education.
