Wild Thing: The Smithsonian National Zoo

As part of its mission to "advance research and scientific knowledge in conserving wildlife and to teach and inspire people to protect wildlife, natural resources, and habitats," scientists at the National Zoo breed endangered species for the purpose of re-introducing them to nature.
