Niraant House in Dumas, Surat by Aangan Architects (Home Tour).

The site is located in Dumas, Surat, which is countryside part of Surat. The site being a colonial orchard retreat from past, with thick and dense existing plantation. The site is an elongated rectangle in 1:4 proportion, the approach is from shorter side of the plot.
The conceptual idea for the weekend retreat for the couple in their 40’s was to continue the old world charm offered by the 1937 – outhouse already located in the plot with a huge verandah and sloping roof. The design starts with the semi covered connection between the old and the new unit which is used as an open dining space. The space is around an existing tree and is partially covered by a bridge connecting the two units at upper level and is also the main entrance foyer to the house
