+1st Pass - Usually indicates that a lesser audio source(vinyl pressing) was used to create the transfer. Also, very little, if any, audio restoration treatments are applied on a 1st Pass. Therefore, it is highly likely that you will hear various degrees of audio distortion throughout. If and when a better audio source is acquired, a second transfer/restoration project will eventually ensue as part of a 2nd Pass and depending on the results, a full scale audio restoration will usually also accompany the 2nd Pass for much better results.

The 'Big Three' at work! - "Something's Got to Give"

What are they?

There are three of very key dynamics at work here, all coming together and well, 'somethings gotta give', as they say. So the odds are, in the midst of that, there will be some very high-yield results in sound, yielding something quite astounding.

I. A sound intentionally produced to the vinyl medium that is 'unique to its own' and comes from an unprecedented era in music reproduction from the 50's, 60's, 70's and into the 80's!
II. An unprecedented time in advanced audio technologies (both hardware and software) that only continues to get better.
III. An 'oddity' craftsman who has a unique background that began with a BS degree in Electronics Engineering Technology in the mid-90's, and then later, an AAS degree in Music Technology (in 2018!), plus seven years working in the music industry( including five years at a manufacturing plant for record pressing and electro-plating) and who has had a 'dedicated ear' solely to 'all things legacy' vinyl since 2007.

Not all of them(vinyl pressings) will have it to give but some will. That's probably the most gratifying part of the work I do and we are proud to be able to scrutinize our vast legacy recordings on legacy vinyl at such a deep level to find them!

Bringing all 'three' together to generate some incredible results. 'Hear the difference'!
