Level Up Your Terminal Game with Haoxi Tan

Haoxi Tan, a CSSE2310 tutor and UQ Cyber ninja, is going to be talking about vim, tmux and ssh kung fu, bringing together all the things you wish you knew when were taking 2310. Supercharge your day to day linux/unix workflows and start to shell like a pro.

vim, the (infamous) text editor is great for working on remote servers where you don’t have access to your full IDE. Basic and advanced features (e.g. exiting) will be covered.

tmux is a terminal multiplexer that lets you have multiple terminals running at the same time. The sessions are managed so you can background and foreground them - allowing you to leave commands running on a server without keeping the connection/screen alive.

As for ssh, little tricks and tools that will help you access your remote networks and files will be demoed to show you that you have more freedom than you think.
