First let's walk through the steps to change the speed of your audio using Audacity. This will keep the pitch of your voice the same, but will make it faster.

Step 1. Open the audio file in Audacity that you want to change the speed of your voice for.

Step 2. Highlight one of the selections in this audio clip that you want to change the speed of.

Step 3. Click "Effect" in the row of options along the top of the screen, and then click "Change Tempo." The Change Tempo window opens.

Step 4. Find the Percentage Change field, and then enter the percentage you want to speed up the audio. And again, your voice will still sound the same after this, but it will make you talk faster. Click "Preview" to hear these settings applied to your audio, and then make adjustments as necessary.

Step 5. Click "Apply" when you're ready to apply these changes to the highlighted part of your audio file. That window will close and the highlighted part of your Audacity file will be modified.

Next let's look at how you can change both the pitch and the speed of your audio.

Step 1. Open the audio file in Audacity that you want to change the speed and pitch for.

Step 2. Highlight one of the selections in this audio clip that you want to change the speed and pitch for.

Step 3. Click "Effect" in the row of options along the top of the screen, and then click "Change Speed and Pitch." The Change Speed and Pitch window opens.

Step 4. Find the Speed Multiplier and Percent Change options at the top of the screen, and the slider below them. Drag the slider to the left if you want to slow down your speaking, which will correspondingly decrease your pitch. Or, drag the slider to the right to speed up your speaking, which will correspondingly increase your pitch. Click "Preview" to hear these settings applied to your audio, and then make adjustments as necessary.

Step 5. Click "Apply" when you're ready to apply these changes to the highlighted part of your audio file. That window will close and the highlighted part of your Audacity file will be modified.

And finally, let's walk through the steps to change the pitch of your audio, which will keep the speed of speaking the same, and will just change the pitch.

Step 1. Open the audio file in Audacity that you want to change the pitch for.

Step 2. Highlight one of the selections in this audio clip that you want to change the pitch for.

Step 3. Click "Effect" in the row of options along the top of the screen, and then click "Change Pitch." The Change Pitch window opens.

Step 4. Find the Pitch section, where the From and To sides will initially be the same. Navigate to the To side. To be clear, we don't want to change the number on this side, we just want to change the note. If you want to make your pitch lower, click the drop-down associated with the note, and then select something higher up the list than where you're at now. Alternatively, if you want to make your pitch higher, click the drop-down associated with the note and then select something lower down this list than where you're currently at. Click "Preview" to hear these settings applied to your audio, and then make adjustments as necessary.

Step 5. Click "Apply" when you're ready to apply these changes to the highlighted part of your audio file. That window will close and the highlighted part of your Audacity file will be modified.
