(2014) Directors Cut: Chris Hedges: "The many failures of US society and how change can occur"

It was between 10-11 PM on April 4, th. 2014. The film by Eugene Jarecki I live in this House had been shown to over 200 people at Princeton University. Both speakers briefly spoke which was proceeded by over 1 hour of Q&A.

The Q&A questions included; The difficulties in US media to gain funding for progressive films and the films present distribution especially in US Prisons, the history of how the US became the leading country in the world in mass incarceration, the US two tier legal system and society, how the US Democratic system is broken, the decrease and destruction of traditional progressive organizations movements in the US, a blistering attack by Chris Hedges of the Clinton Presidency, how the drug war has had severe negative consequences within the US and also in Mexico and South America, the creation of what Chris Hedges calls a new global neo-feudalism society and the need for the re-creation of progressive mass movements for social change.

This was part of the April 4-5, of 2014 Students for Prison Education and Reform (SPEAR) hosted "Building a New Criminal Justice: Mobilizing Students for Reform," http://pace.princeton.edu/features/2014/03/spear-conference-building-new-criminal-justice a conference at Princeton University. The conference enabled students to discuss how to "build and transition to a new system of criminal justice that prioritizes effectiveness, fairness, and humanity."
