Most of us have heard the iconic strains of the Glenn Miller big band, which remain jazz classics to this day. But they hold an eerie back story of their leader’s mysterious disappearance at a young age. Glenn Miller the trombonist, come innovative composer, arranger and band leader during the swing era of the late 30’s and early 40’s, had a dazzling but short lived career. He was about to embark on a third Twentieth Century Fox movie when he made the altruistic decision to support the US war effort.
