A visit to the Horniman Museum And Gardens

This is a short video made from footage shot at the Horniman Museum on a day trip.

"The Horniman Museum & Gardens is an excellent day out for families. The gardens are lovely with plenty of interesting plants, massive grassy areas for football etc, benches, even some rather odd caged poultry to look at. It has a striking location with great views over south east London, and being right on the south circular makes it relatively easy to find.

Among the museum buildings there is a large glasshouse set with tables and chairs where you can eat your own packed lunches or food bought from the cafe. There's more cafe seating in the main building too.

The museum itself has a number of distinct collections, the most unusual of which is the musical instruments. These are displayed in a long basement room along the wall, with a public access computer system set into tables along the middle of the room. This allows users to select and listen to snippets of music played by many of the hundreds of instruments on display. In the same area there is a room full of 'home-made' instruments which the children can try out."
