Federal immigration officers shot and wounded two people outside a Portland, Oregon hospital on January 9 as part of a “targeted vehicle stop,” the Department of Homeland Security said, claiming the driver attempted to run over agents during the encounter.
The Portland incident came a day after an ICE officer fatally shot 37-year-old Renee Good in Minneapolis, where legal, political and public reactions continue to unfold. Officials in both cities report protests and investigations into federal immigration enforcement tactics.
