CSX Freight Train 488 (Intro to trains of Woodland, Illinois *see description*)

A CSX mixed freight (CSX #114 + CSX #407) heads northbound on the CSX CE&D Subdivision. This was filmed at the Main Street (County Road 1400 N) railroad crossing in Woodland, Illinois.

Woodland, Illinois. This is where CSX’s CE&D Sub (actually known as the CSX Woodland Sub here but in my case I’m still going to refer to it as the CE&D Sub since that’s what I’ve always known it as in Terre Haute) meets up with the Union Pacific Pana/Villa Grove Sub and run parallel to each other from this town all the way to Chicago, IL, a distance of about 90 miles. Most likely the longest stretch where a west coast rail company owned mainline runs alongside an east coast rail company owned mainline in the country. The CSX tracks are the tracks farthest from me in this video and UP’s are the ones closest to me. Though from what I’ve seen, UP may own the equipment on both sides. Both rail lines are fairly busy, each seeing roughly about 10-20 trains per day, and a variety of different kinds of trains, with intermodal and mixed freight/manifest being the main type of traffic. Definitely a nice little town and a fun place to railfan at.
