A new Linux build and deployment method, image mode | Into the Terminal 150

Do you remember the promises that the cloud offered a decade and a half ago? The idea of linux systems that you treated like a commodity rather than a hand crafted masterpiece. We’ve made a lot of progress on those promises, but most of it has been around how to make building and automating your traditional linux systems easier. Containers have started to bridge that gap by making it possible to build an immutable application container designed to be deployed, and destroyed at will. But what about infrastructure systems, and physical or virtual machines? Image mode, powered by bootc, finishes that bridge. With Image Mode RHEL, you can build a linux image just like you build a container image, you manage it like a container, and update it like a container, but when you deploy that bootable container image, it deploys to disk on your physical, virtual, or cloud machines.
