Remembering Johnny Carson
Johnny Carson was the King of Late Night. For nearly 30 years he hosted “The Tonight Show.” From 1962 until his retirement in 1992, he kept audiences laughing with his monologues, sketches and witty interview style. His guests ranged from the current celebrities of the day to future stars like David Letterman and Ellen DeGeneres. Although charismatic and cool on TV, off camera he was shy and had struggles with alcohol and several failed marriages. Reluctant to draw attention to himself after retirement, it wasn’t until after his death that documents revealed the massive scope of his charitable donations. We remember the man who felt like a wonderful friend we never really knew.
