Vlogmas 2022 day 24 - it's Christmas Eve already!!! - brings an update on Baron and tips for easy but professional looking cookie decorating from my sister who is a professional baker. It's also the last day for most of our advent calendars.

Royal icing.
2 lbs powdered sugar
3 tbsp meringue powder
warm water (amount depends on humidity and altitude)

Tea cakes.
1c shortening
2c sugar
Pinch of salt
-cream together
3 eggs
2 tbs buttermilk
1 tsp vanilla
-add to cream mixture and blend well
4c flour: slowly add and blend well. Cookie mixture should pull away from side of of mixing bowl when ingredients are fully incorporated.
Bake on 325 until bottom edges turn golden brown. (About 10-12 minutes)
Cookie baking tips:
1. Bake on a silicone baking mat and your cookies will not have brown bottoms. If not silicone mat, you can use parchment paper, but the bottoms will brown.
2. I’ve omitted the baking soda and baking powder to keep the cut out shape.
3. If using cookies for cut outs, roll dough between two sheets of parchment paper. If you sprinkle flour to roll out, you will dry the cookies out of you add too much.
4. Once you’ve cut out the cookies and placed them on your baking sheet, place sheet in freezer for at least 10 minutes. This will help the cookies hold their shape.
