7 HUGE Podcast Mistakes You NEED to Avoid (These can ruin your show) - 2021

Wondering how to podcast and what mistakes to avoid when podcasting? I have been podcasting for nearly 2 years and in that time I have done a lot of things wrong. As a beginner Podcaster it can be intimidating and confusing so, In this video I outline the 7 major podcast mistakes I made so you can avoid them and dramatically improve your show.

1. Not Starting: Starting a podcast is one of the best decisions I have made in my life. Stop making excuses. Get after it , get started and start experiencing the value.

2. Copy Cat: Don't try and be the exact same as your favorite shows. Be yourself, be you and provide YOUR unique value. That is what will allow you to find success and connect with your audience.

3. Not Listening: The most successful interviews are very conversational. Have set questions as a guide but completely engage yourself in the conversation and let it go wherever it goes, regardless of your script. This will result in better content and better connections with your guests.

4b. Guests Microphone: Give your guests a heads up before the show to ensure they use a proper mic or at the very least a decent set of headphones with a microphone built in.

5. Limiting Beliefs: Your show can be whatever you want it to be. Set your goals high, set your guest goals even higher and set your impact goals the highest. It won't be easy but it's entirely possible.

6. Plugging Late: For yourself and your guest it is important to include your desired plugs earlier on in the show to maximize reach. Regardless of how good your show is, naturally people drop off. Do it earlier and maximize impact.

7. Money Hungry: While I think making money from your podcast is a great goal, it should not be your initial WHY. I say this because I know how difficult it is to make money this way, especially if you are starting from scratch online. If it is a passion you will put in the necessary work and time that will make the money find you.
