Major mishap averted: Katra-bound train coach cracks open at Ludhiana station, passengers safe

A frightening incident took place at Ludhiana Railway Station when the New Delhi–Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Special train (04081) was preparing to leave the station.
According to officials the coupling connecting two coaches snapped as the train started moving and this caused part of toilet section of a sleeper coach to break and the two coaches became separated.
Passengers heard a very loud noise, leading to panic inside the train.
Railway Protection Force (RPF) and local police reached the station soon after the incident and authorities have started an investigation to find out the exact cause. Some railway officials believe the damage may have been caused by tension in coupling mechanism when the train began moving however several passengers claimed the sound was similar to an explos!0n.
Fortunately no passenger was injured in the incident.
