You can' explain or understand God through your intellect. Lord Krishna explained to Arjun that when he descends in his avatars, the materially conditioned souls are unable to recognize Him as they lack divine eyes. The avatars have taken place innumerable times. We have had innumerable past births. The probability is that in some past life or the other, we did see God. However, since his form was divine and our intellect material - we were unable to recognize him.
