Holst "Beni Mora" Oriental Suite - Sascha Goetzel conducts
Gustav Holst's most famous and popular composition is his Orchestral Suite "The Planets." Among his lesser-known and seldom performed works is his 3-movement Oriental Suite "Beni Mora" which was composed in 1910 and inspired by a holiday he'd spent in Algiers two years earlier. A picturesque Eastern atmosphere is evocatively presented throughout and the work's colourful orchestral effects were brilliantly displayed by the Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic under Sascha Goetzel when it made its UK debut at London's Royal Albert Hall during the 2014 BBC Proms season.
