After the tragic loss of Keith Flint on March 4th Jon Burton submitted us the following words:

I would like to dedicate this video to the memory of Keith Flint. Sound engineers should be guided by the artists they work for, by the sound they create. Keith always encouraged, almost goaded me in to making him sound at times angry, others scary, but always slightly mischievous. A pleasure to work with, sadly missed.

Bass & Echo – darauf steht jon Burton und davon bekommt er jede Menge bei den Auftritten von The Prodigy.

Die Kultstatus-Veteranen zeitloser Vollgasmusik sind mit Wigwam Acoustics unterwegs, die ein GSL-System von d&b audiotechnik zur Verfügung stellen. Burton mischt den Front of House sound an einer Midas XL3 mit 32 Kanälen – im Video verrät er natürlich auch, warum er nach wie vor dieses analoge Schätzchen bevorzugt.

Am PA-System schätzt er, dass er damit dem Ideal nährekommt, wirklich an allen Stellen des Venues ausgewogenen Sound zu liefern. Die Subs werden an manchen Stellen im Set mit Infrasubs unterfüttert, die man aber laut Job mehr fühlt als hört – aber auf eine gepflegte Ausstattung im Tieftonbereich legt er großen Wert.

Ganz analog geht es aber auch am FoH nicht zu: Ein Allen & Heath QuPac regelt einige Effkte. Ein Noisemeter hat ebenfalls seinen festen Platz im Gepäck, da The Prodigy einen Großteil ihrer Gigs auf Festivals absoliveren, bei denen die Einhaltung von Lautstärkebegrenzungen eine wichtige Rolle spielt.
