Dogs
The first animal in today’s list is none other than the man’s very own best friend, the common canine, also known as the dog. First domesticated almost 10,000 years ago, dogs are among the earliest domesticated animals, and have lived with humans side by side through thick and thin.

Lion
The king of the jungle is not the “king” of everything as it seems! We all know about lions, don’t we? From Hollywood movies like The Lion King all the way to the chronicles of Narnia, these guys are always treated like royalty and they surely deserve it, with their majestic looks and incredible sense of pack hunting! A typical lion can get as heavy as 400 pounds (180kg) and up to 6 feet (2m) long. Plus they can be as tall as 4 feet (1.3m)! And their bite force is around 600 to 700 pounds per square inch!

Hyena
The next one on this list is a distant cousin of dogs, the Hyena. Now I know these creatures don’t have a reputation as our beloved dogs or the iconic and bold wolves. They are almost always considered to be the bad guys, ever since the Lion King came out and ruined their reputation. Now it’s almost a given that the hyena is the bad guy of Hollywood.

Gray Wolf
Here is perhaps the most strategic and vicious apex predator of the canine family, the Gray Wolf. Living in North America and parts of Eurasia, these impressive wolves grow up to be as heavy as 140 pounds (60kg) and as tall as 30 inches (80cm).

Grizzly bear
We are going to look at another entrée on today’s list who has a misdirected reputation in Hollywood, From Yogi Bear to Pooh Bear, many depictions of bears have always described them as the cutest and sweetest animals.

Polar bear
Now here is the arctic cousin of the Grizzlies. The Polar Bear. These guys too are among the strongest and most resilient animals on the planet, and are the largest bear species. Surviving harsh conditions and sub-zero temperatures, you can bet that these guys too have a bone crushing bite. How crushing? A bit higher than their cousins, almost 1200 pounds per square inch! incredible isn’t it? not surprising though, they can get as big as 900 plus pounds (400kg) and almost 8 feet (2 and a half m) long!!!!

Gorilla
Here we have the only primate contender on our list! And it is the biggest of them all! The Gorilla! Just like most of the big guys here, Gorillas too have captivated Hollywood! Mighty Joe Young and King Kong? Rings a bell?

Jaguar
Big cats are always a force to be reckoned with! And Jaguars are no different. However, as they are stealth hunters and hunt alone, they have developed unique adaptations to ensure their survival and success! And their incredible bite force is evidence of this! They have an approximate bite force of 1500 pounds per square inch! This makes them the strongest “biter” of the cat family! incredible right?

Hippopotamus
It’s time to take a look at the biggest contender on our list! Big, bad and heavy… meet the mighty Hippopotamus! Now who’s the most famous hippo in Hollywood? It’s the character Gloria, an animated hippo from the movie Madagascar! But don’t let Gloria fool you. Hippos are not dancing around and they are certainly not messing around. They are among the largest and heaviest mammals on the planet, weighing more than a staggering 3000 pounds (1400kg) and measuring as long as 12 to 16 feet!! Now that is massive! in fact, they are the 3rd largest land animals after Elephants and Rhinos!

Great White Shark
Here is a Hollywood classic. This is the star of Steven Spielberg’s timeless masterpiece “Jaws”. The great white shark gets second place on this list of the most fatal and strongest bites in the animal kingdom. And it surely deserves it.

Saltwater Crocodile
We are down to the strongest and the biggest bite force in the world! And the number one position goes to none other than the Saltwater Crocodile!
The Nile crocodiles are as old as the Nile river itself. Alright, well, maybe not that old but still. These reptiles have been around since the time the mighty dinosaurs ruled the planet and have survived all the major extinction events that took place that wiped out many species off the planet! The modern crocodiles have outlived their dinosaur cousins by 65 million years now and not even nasty humans could threaten these animals, at least not without specialized weapons!
