Grey Owl's Cabin in Saskachewan, Canada

One of my favorite canoe trips is the 20km paddle across Kingsmere Lake to Grey Owls Cabin on Ajawaan Lake in Prince Albert National Park. This time my wife Caitlin joined me and I knew she would love all the wildlife this park has to offer. We only had about 30 hours to explore this time but we saw a lot of wildlife including 7 bears, 21elk, 19 deer, 4 bald eagles, 3 mink, 2 otters, 2 foxes, and much more. This park is literally a zoo without fences and the animals seem very calm and not too afraid of humans.

The Grey Owl Cabin is just far enough away from the town of Waskesiu to earn its seclusion yet within reach of a days paddle if you're committed. There are beautiful campsite on Kingsmere to spend the night if you wish.

Grey Owl wrote three best-selling books while he lived in this cabin which include Pilgrims of the wild (1934) Sajo and The Beaver People(1935) and tales of an Empty Cabin (1936). He lived here until his death in 1938 and is buried here at the cabin up on the hill.

If you're looking for a great adventure in Saskatchewan with incredible fishing, lots of wildlife, and a classic log cabin with a great history this is a wonderful trip.
