I Made this Much Teaching On Skillshare (Review 2019)

About 6 months ago I spent an entire day creating a class to teach on Skillshare. So today I am going to be giving my review of skillshare for teachers and really answering the question of whether or not teaching on Skillshare is worth your time.

2 FREE Months of Skillshare Premium! - https://www.skillshare.com/r/profile/David-Eaves/3840917

So I first decided to take a course on Skillshare when I read their claim that on average first-time teachers earn $200 in their first month. I thought that it was very unrealistic to be able to just throw a course up and make $200 + reoccurring revenue.

So I made my options trading course I titled "Complete Guide to Stock Options For Beginners" and in the course, I focused more on just answering the questions of what stock options are, how they work, and what factors affect the pricing of them. Overall the course was 49 minutes and 8 videos in length.

So to answer the question of skillshare pay. Skillshare pays based on a royalty system, so if skillshare brings in $1,000,000 in revenue from premium users, 30%-50% is put straight into a royalty pool for teachers, and then that is broken up based on a percentage of watch time. For example if there was 1 million minutes of watch time across skillshare courses, and I got 100,000 of that watch time. I would get 10% of the royalty pool, which in this case could be between $300,000 and $500,000 so I would make between $30,000 and $50,000 for that month.

Overall I only made about $14 for 338 minutes of watch time which is quite low compared to the claim skillshare makes, however I was not the disappointed because of how niche my class was and how revenue has continued to come in for months and months after my course was released, so for passive income I think Skillshare can be a great option. However, if you want to make more active income faster it could be a better option to make your own course with Teachable and then market it yourself, but this could take much more money upfront. Another option could also be Udemy however I do not have a ton of experience with them so it may be good, it may not, I know a lot of people will put the same courses on Skillshare, Udemy, and other similar sites.
