Soriana signifie « notre Syrie ». Le pays que nous avons laissé derrière nous - par soif de découvertes ou forcé par les circonstances. Nous sommes partis en pensant que nous étions sans bagage, complètement inconscients du plus grand cadeau que notre pays nous a accordé : la connaissance musicale. Cet héritage a été mon compagnon pendant tant de journées : il a adoucit mes peines et m’a inspiré. Il m’a procuré chaleur, stabilité, et aussi des images, des arômes et des goûts qui sans cesse m’insufflent de nouvelles créations. Ce sont elles que j’offre aujourd’hui à « notre Syrie », Soriana. - Basel Rajoub

The Queen of Turquoise fait partie du Soriana Project, un ensemble d’œuvres musicales du compositeur et saxophoniste syrien Basel Rajoub.

Soriana is ‘our Syria’. Our country that we left behind, forced out either by a search or by circumstances. We head out thinking that we carry no baggage, completely unaware of the biggest gift our country has bestowed upon us. That gift is the gift of musical knowledge. It remains with me throughout many journeys, it soothes wounds and inspires creation, provides warmth and a platform of stability, images, aromas, tastes that water the mouth and inspire new creations still. This music is my gift to our Syria – Soriana. Basel Rajoub
