Redstone Vending Machine (1.17.41)

What started off as quite a complex build turned out to have a very simple solution that's modular and stackable. Instead of using an XYZ grid of moving pistons like for the Etch-A-Sketch, it reuses a simple conveyor belt.

Select what you would like to order by activating a lever which pushes the chest that you would like in the window backwards onto the conveyor belt.

Keep rotating the conveyor belt on the slice that has the chest you selected until the chest cannot move any further - also visible in a small window.

Keep toggling the mechanism in the middle to dispense the chest from the conveyor belt and into the collection point for the selected slice.

You can dispense multiple chests from different slices and also the same slice but you will need to toggle the levers in a different order to do so.

To reset the machine, deactivate the lever that you originally selected, break the glass temporarily and place another chest with items on the honey block.

Signs and Item Frames may help identify each of the layers. With mods, you may be able to add a feature that only dispenses items if you insert a coin.

There is no vertical limit to the build other than the world height, but there is a horizontal limit as each piston can only move 12 blocks including chests.

To overcome the limits, simply build another vending machine next to the first one and have lots of collection points for chests instead of one column.
