FDNY BATTLES massive 18 hour long FIRE in the South Bronx. Heavy flames destroy an entire building.

Firefighters in the Bronx battled a stubborn fire in a commercial building Monday afternoon with operations lasting until Tuesday morning. Shortly after arrival FDNY Chiefs determined the fire had already advanced and filled the structure with floor to ceiling smoke. They determined conditions inside the structure were too dangerous and ordered all firefighters out of the building. The fire would be fought using exterior operation that included multiple Tower Ladders, hand lines from neighboring roofs, and multiversals.
