Animesh Kujur, the fastest Indian you didn't know about | I Witness

Animesh Kujur took up athletics seriously only after the pandemic, and thanks to the facilities and support at the Odisha Reliance Foundation Athletics High-Performance Centre in Bhubaneswar, where he trains under coach Martin Owens, he now holds the national records in both the 100m and 200m.
But he is not done yet. His aim is to become the first Indian to break the 10-second barrier in the 100m and the 20-second barrier in the 200m. For now, though, all his focus will be on performing well at the World Championships in Tokyo, where he will compete in the 200m, which is a first for an Indian male athlete.
He isn’t the only one though who has been impressive this year. Lalu Prasad Bhoi and Pragyan Prasanti Sahu, also from Odisha, have shown great promise and are expected to achieve big things in the coming days.
