Animation length: 3’6’’
The Buddha was born between 600 – 500 BCE in the kingdom of Kapilavastu which was ruled by the Śākyas. The Buddha’s father, Śuddhodana, was king of the Śākyas, and his mother was Māyādevī. This animation documents the life of the Buddha who was born for the welfare of the world. After he was awakened to the root of suffering, ignorance, and a path to remove suffering, the Buddha spent forty-five years teaching the Dharma. At the age of eighty, under a pair of sāla trees, the Buddha entered final parinirvāṇa. The legacy he left his disciples was profound. Many Buddhist masters, including Venerable Master Hsing Yun, have devoted their lives to the transmission of the Buddha’s message. This video ends at the Fo Guang Shan Buddha Memorial Centre that is dedicated to the life of such a great historical figure.
