Playing By Ear - Lesson 3 - Rule 1 - I IV V

Our first rule to try when figuring out a song by ear. You're playing the I chord. A change happens in the song. First, try the IV chord. Does it fit? If not, try the V chord. Does it fit?
More often than not, the IV or V chord will follow the I chord.
If it doesn't, then another rule applies.

This method will help you figure out the chord-structure of the song (the left hand on the accordion), which will then help you figure out the right-hand melody.
