Yaşlı Ermeni Kadının Anlattıkları: "Kim Ermeni?"

My father is from Zeytun-Hasanbeyli. I grew up in Yerevan. I am from Yerevan. I travelled a lot. I have travelled the Soviet Union a lot. I have seen a lot of Turks, Turkized, Kurdicized, Islamized Armenians. What else... In Europe etc... I realized there are 2 kinds of people: the good ones and the bad ones. Now... This isnt a problem I THINK. There are many kinds of wheat. Red, white, bulghur, dövme, yarma... all of them are called 'wheat'. Bread, simit for example... Half of us (Armenians) forgot the God in Soviet Union. We become Atheist. Hamshens (Muslim Armenians) came to Armenia from Kyrgyzistan in 1986. We were discussing about that in a meeting room. Someone said 'They will come, they already wanted to come. Hamshens.' They said 'They are Muslim. If they come they could mix(be ally) with Azeris. So what can we do after that?(means they souldnt come)'. One of our great writers and a scientist opposed to this. Rafael İşhanyan and Sero Hanzadyan(?). He was a great writer. 'You shamelesses!' he said, 'We are all lost our religions. We become Atheist. They are Muslim, they know their God. So who do we know? They didnt become kyrgyz in Kyrgyzistan. They will be Armenian here. If this people feels that they are Armenian, no matter if they are Muslim, Christian, Buddhist or Atheist. If they feel theirselves as an Armenian, so they are Armenians. I cant think another way. It will be very good if we unite.' We are ONE. There is 1 God(she is saying Allah) in the sky. There wasnt any religion, country, nation or state when the God create Adam and Eva. Nothing. There was humanity. Now, when humanity comes again we will understand again. A lot of Assyrians, Arabs... A lot of chaos happened nowadays. When people realize there is 1 (same) God in the sky, Armenians will be more powerful together. That's it! Thank you."

.... 1986'da Kırgızistan'dan Hemşinliler Ermenistan'a geldi. Buraya yerleşmek istediler. Bazıları onlar Müslüman diye karşı çıktılar. Tarihçi Rafael İşhanyan ise şiddetle yerinden kalkarak dedi ki "biz hepimiz Sovyet zamanında ateist olmuşuz hiç değilse Hemşinliler Allah'ı tanıyor" diyerek sahip çıkmıştı....
