The International Low Grade Glioma Registry

The International Low Grade Glioma Registry Webinar - Wednesday, October 5, 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm CDT The management of patients with low grade glioma (LGG) remains one of the most controversial topics in neuro-oncology today. No comprehensive clinical prognostic or predictive classification for LGG exists leading to confusion over how to best manage these patients. To address these knowledge gaps, Dr. Elizabeth B. Claus, professor and director of Medical Research, Yale School of Public Health and attending neurosurgeon and director of Stereotactic Radiosurgery, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, has focused her research and clinical practice on this malignant tumor. Listen Dr. Claus who discussed her efforts to close this knowledge gap through the development of the International Low Grade Glioma Registry. The purpose of this registry is to discover why some people develop LGG while other people do not. She has implemented web- and smartphone-based recruitment in partnership with the American Brain Tumor Association to enroll and collect clinical, biological, quality-of-life data for LGG patients. Dr. Claus also hopes to learn more about the effect of this diagnosis and the associated treatments on daily life including the ability to work, drive, sleep, exercise or take care of oneself and/or family. Initial funding for the patient registry was funded in part by the American Brain Tumor Association and details for registry entry will be given during the webinar.
