RARE AND EXPLOSIVE LION ATTACKING MALE BUFFALO IN KRUGER

As part of the Lion research undertaken by the Ajubatus Foundation, this incredible professional footage was taken on a rainy night deep in the Kruger wilderness. We had been tracking the lion pride for three days when they came upon an old but incredibly strong Buffalo Bull (Dagga Boy). This footage is not for the squeamish, it shows the harshest of attacks and incredible will on the buffalo to survive this relentless fight. The vehicle was within metres of the explosive event and in the footage you will see a worn out lioness fall asleep whilst still mounted on the shoulders of the buffalo. The colours are particularly spectacular given the moist air and rich wet season - the surrounding darkness is filled with sounds of the night, certainly some of the rare footage that has been captured on tape and testament to the majesty of the African wild. Survival of the fittest never held more true and the buffalo was destined to succumb against such relentless onslought and strong pride presence. We salute the incredible bravery of this member of Africa's BIG 5!
