Czech Republic: At least 5 dead as rare tornado hits southern villages

At least 5 people died as a rare tornado ripped through villages in the southeast of the Czech Republic, as seen in Moravska Nova Ves on Friday.

Prime Minister Andrej Babis was seen visiting the area after cutting short his participation at the European Council summit in Brussels.

More than a thousand homes were destroyed, and over a hundred have also been injured by the tornado and hail storm, which was deemed as the country's worst storm in modern history. It was also its first tornado since 2018.

The powerful storm hit the area on Thursday night, blowing off roofs and overturning cars. In some places, winds reached 332 kph (206 mph).
