New Year's Fishing Kayak DIY Upgrade

Outfitting a kayak for fishing can sometimes be as simple a thing as adding a seat that is comfortable enough to park your butt in all day long. The Sentinel comes with a low, basic seat. I wanted to see if my buddy who is average size (around 200lbs) would be able to paddle comfortably without the kayak feeling too tippy. He said, it only took a few minutes to get used to and he didn't think about it for the rest of the day. He also said, he probably wouldn't have stayed out as long if he had the thinner, original seat. So, success! AND we were able to catch a bunch of fish also. What a triumph of a day :D
A quick note on the design of the American Flag kayak (as Rich and I have come to know it) Pelican has always strived to design kayaks that were not only well built, but also look beautiful. This boat was lent to me to test it's durability and how well it would deal with the harsh Florida sun. It is considered a prototype, not meant for sale. I am always impressed by their ability to churn out boats that are real works of art and I hope someday that kayaks like this one can be offered for sale to the public. For now, it is a 'one of a kind'. Sorta like yours truly!
