Ashness Bridge and Surprise View.

On this video, we leave the B5289 (Borrowdale Valley) and head towards Ashness Bridge. We had been there in 2006 when we called on our Honda ST1300 Pan European. I didn't know where the road led to after the Bridge but after looking at Google maps that morning, I was intrigued as to where it went to. So, this occasion we carried on after the bridge. The road was in excellent condition and of single track, our favourite type! We were riding along when we came to what is known as Surprise View! WOW!!!! We simply couldn't believe what we saw! Apparently this was Queen Victoria's favourite view.

We parked Silvia up and walked over to this incredible viewpoint. It was quite emotional looking out onto Derwent Water and in the distance, Bassenthwaite Lake (the only lake in the Lake District). All these years of going along the B5289 to Honister, we never knew about this incredible view! Thank goodness for our motorcycle for getting us to these beautiful places.
